Whitney and Cody
Whitney and Cody went to Georgia to spend Christmas with his family. Shayne just posted some beautiful pictures on her blog of a family photo shoot they did while they were all together. I hope she doesn't mind that I borrowed a few pictures to post here ...they were just too good to resist!

Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs
On Thursday Whitney and I went to the Houston Museum of Fine Arts to see the King Tut exhibition. Unfortunately they banned all photography so I wasn't able to take my own pictures. The pictures I am posting here are from the museum's web site. It was really interesting, we learned some new information about him and it was a lot of fun to see. While we were there we found out that due to a generous gift from Shell oil company, general admission to the museum is free on Thursdays. Yay ...I'm sure that I will be visiting the art museum a lot more often now. Thanks Shell Oil company!
The traveling exhibition Tutankhamen: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs features more than 100 artworks, most of which had never been shown in the United States prior to this tour. These spectacular treasures—more than half of which come from the tomb of King Tutankhamun—include the golden sandals found on the boy king´s mummy; a gold coffinette that held his stomach; golden statues of the gods; and King Tut's rings, ear ornaments, and gold collar.
Also showcased are objects associated with the most important rulers of the 30 dynasties that reigned in Egypt over a 2,000-year span. The exhibition explores the splendor of the pharaohs, their function in both the earthly and divine worlds, and what "kingship" meant to the Egyptian people. Among the highlights is the largest likeness of King Tut ever discovered: a 10-foot statue of the pharaoh found at the remains of a funerary temple.

A beautiful Day at the Zoo
Today looking out the window and seeing the dark, gloomy storm clouds and the ongoing torrential rain it's hard to imagine that just last week I was walking around the Houston Zoo enjoying the beautiful spring like weather with some of my favorite people. I was headed to my car after getting my allergy shots when I decided to take a chance and text Whitney, saying the day was too perfect to stay inside so she should come with me on a trip to the zoo. I was surprised that she was feeling spontaneous and totally on board with it. Her only suggestion was that I invite Joy and her two little ones to come with us too. When I called Joy to deliver Whitney's suggestion she said you're timing is perfect, just that morning Grant had told her he wanted to go to the zoo. Her plan was to call around to find out if any of her friends with memberships were planning to go there in the next few days. It wasn't long before we all met up at the zoo entrance ...me with a brand new membership in hand and all of us ready for some fun and adventure!

One of my favorites ...the seal show.
All and all it was the perfect day. I can't wait for another sunny day so we can go back.
